First Ice Age America
First Peoples in a New World: Colonizing Ice Age America
More than 12,000 years ago, in one of the greatest triumphs of prehistory, humans colonized North America, a continent that was then truly a new world. Just when and how they did so has been one of the most perplexing and controversial questions in archaeology. This dazzling, cutting-edge synthesis, written for a wide audience by an archaeologist who has long been at the center of these debates, tells the scientific story of the first Americans: where they came from, when they arrived, and how they met the challenges of moving across the vast, unknown landscapes of Ice Age North America. David J. Meltzer pulls together the latest ideas from archaeology, geology, linguistics, skeletal biology, genetics, and other fields to trace the breakthroughs that have revolutionized our understanding in recent years. Among many other topics, he explores disputes over the hemisphere's oldest and most controversial sites and considers how the first Americans coped with changing global climates.

What was life in America like before the last ice age????
It's my first homework assignment of the year and I'm going out of my mind to find an answer, does anyone know what life (in particular human life) was like BEFORE the LAST ice age???? All answers are appreciated :)

No humans in America before the last ice age. So, the whole continent was the paradise of buffaloes, mammoths, wolves, foxes, snakes, pumas and so on. The first humans came from Siberia and crossed the Behring strait about 20,000 years ago, during the ice age.

Why do American Indians complain about Columbus, when Whites settled in America first?
The Asians ancestors of who later became known as "American Indians" came to the Americas during the last Ice Age 20,000 years ago. They then proceded to commit genocide against the Whites who were already living here, and eventually killed all of them. Real nice guys, huh? 'Europeans colonised America in 28,000 BC' http://www.telegraph.co.uk/htmlContent.jhtml?html=/archive/2000/02/19/wus19.html Mainstream articles about "Kennewick Man" http://www.newnation.org/NNN-kennewick-man.html Additionally, Mongolians like Ghengis Khan's army and the Huns, BLOOD relatives of the "American Indians," invaded Europe and slaughtered tens of millions of innocent people, BEFORE Columbus arrived in America. THEY started it, wouldn't you say?? WE were in America FIRST anyway!!

Although I agree, it doesn't matter who was here first, it was White Europeans who made this country great! edit; chris your knowledge of history is appalling, to say the least.
