I need a strong opening sentence (not thesis) for history DBQ?
my thesis is: "Through the work of archaeologists, much has been learned about the cultures of ancient peoples." im really having a hard time with an opening statement. the paper is on four documents each talknig about different archaeological excavations at different sites around the world. help?!

Hey, I remember doing history DBQs years ago. Those were always fun :). I would actually change your thesis to be more specific and refer to the archaeological excavations by name. The one you have now is maybe a little bit broader than it should be. It needs to sum up what you're about to explain, so in the average 5-paragraph essay, the thesis should refer to what each of the 3 body paragraphs is going to say, in slightly more general terms than how you'll write them later. I'm sure there's a common thread between all 4 documents. I wish I could give an example, but I don't know what any of the excavations are... and I'm sure you'll be able to come up with something good on your own. I say all of this because I think the thesis you have written already could be the strong opening sentence for your DBQ. Of course, without knowing what exactly the paper is supposed to be on, it's hard to say more. Hope this is of any help, sorry it's so long! :)

Has there been any archeological discoveries regarding the Book of Mormon ?
“…absolutely nothing, has ever shown up in any New World excavation which would suggest… that the Book of Mormon…is a historical document relating to the history of early migrants to our hemisphere (Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, Summer 1973, pp.41, 42, 46).

Yes.. The LDS believe there is something in Yemen that supports the Book of Mormon.. Oh. And they say that the pyramids in South America. Then there's some white god mentioned that they make in to "must be Jesus".. (Even though Jesus was not white) Come to think of it.. NO! Everything the Mormons push turns out to be LIES and stupidity.. Thanks!
